Vlad Filat: Urecheanu became very jocular
The president of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat considers that the leader of Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Serafim Urecheanu joked when he said he would become the President of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Urecheanu became very jocular,” Vlad Filat said at a news conference on Thursday, when asked by reporters to comment on the AMN leader’s statement.
At the same time, Vlad Filat expressed his conviction that the AMN will keep its promises and will not vote for a Communist president. “I’m absolutely certain that the AMN, especially Mr Urecheanu, has the same position as before and will honor the commitments made to its voters,” Filat said.
The PLDM leader also said that the three Liberal Opposition parties – the PL, PLDM and AMN – are considering the possibility of participating in possible early elections in a new format, different from that at the April 5 elections.
After the Parliament’s sitting on May 28, Serafim Urecheanu said that the AMN is ready to negotiate with the PCRM and proposed two possible scenarios. According to the first scenario, the PCRM leader Vladimir Voronin should yield up the post of Speaker to the Opposition. Then, the Opposition will vote for the head of state and will not to seek early elections. According to the second scenario, the PCRM should offer the post of President of Moldova to the Opposition, for which Urecheanu would run. “I want and I will be head of state in the end,” the AMN leader said with certitude.
The rerun elections for choosing the President of Moldova were rescheduled from May 28 for June 3 at the suggestion of the PCRM.
