Vlad Filat: Until President is not elected we will sign no decree to confer awards
“Until the head of state is not elected, we will sign no decree to confer awards,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who will hold the post of Acting President on an interim basis, said after the Parliament’s sitting. Vlad Filat said he does not agree with the announced break as the first sitting of the legislative body could have taken place and all the problems may have been solved, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vlad Filat also said that in the next sitting of Parliament on Thursday, the MPs may elect the Speaker who will serve as Acting President of Moldova as well.
The Premier stated that if he aimed to become head of state, he would have achieved this objective. “I want to be Prime Minister and fulfill all the promises I made to the people,” he said.
As to the negotiations, Vlad Filat said the PLDM made everything possible for the alliance to be formed. “The Liberal Party should take into consideration the election outcome. The PLDM made the final offer and will not return to it. If the PL can share the Prosecutor’s Office or the Anticorruption Center with the PDM, they should do it,” he stated, adding the PLDM is ready to act in the Opposition as well.
Vlad Filat said he was invited to the birthday party given by the PDM MP Vlad Plahotniuc and saw no Communists there.
The Premier also said he will spend New Year’s Eve with the Moldovan people in the Great National Assembly Square and within meetings. Afterward, he will go home to the family.
Under the Constitution, the post of Acting President is held by the Head of Parliament or the Premier if the Speaker cannot or is not elected.
