Vlad Filat: Until AEI parties are in power, alliance exists

Until the political parties that formed the Alliance for European Integration are in power, the alliance exists. If somebody no longer subscribes to the coalition and all its written and unwritten norms, they must withdraw their representatives from the Government and other posts and shift to the opposition, said Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “The parties still have representatives in the Government and are responsible for governmental institutions and institutions that are under parliamentary control. Until we govern the country together, we represent a coalition government,“ Vlad Filat said in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1. The Premier stated that the ‘zero variant’ proposed by the leader of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu will cause chaos as the country will remain without Government, without the Parliament’s administration and without institution heads. “I do not stick to posts. I only want the promises made to the people to be fulfilled. We promised we will bring things in order and will bring the country into the EU,” said Vlad Filat. He also said that if somebody wants early elections, they should say it openly and assume responsibility for the consequences. President Nicolae Timofti made a call and warned about the risks that can appear. “I’m ready to take a step backward or even two for Moldova to move on. If they want the agreement to be revived, it can be done on one condition: serious discussions should be held immediately for modifying it so that we have the necessary instruments for work,” he stated. On February 13, Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who heads the PLDM, said that his party decided to withdraw from the agreement on the formation of the AEI that was signed in 2010, but is ready to negotiate a new agreement. After a series of mutual accusations between the PLDM and PDM, the Democratic leader Marian Lupu said that the only solution for overcoming the political crisis is for Vlad Filat to resign. Afterward, he will resign from the post of Head of Parliament. The head of state urged Vlad Filat and Marian Lupu to review their decisions and to return to the negotiating table so as to identify a solution to the crisis.
