Vlad Filat: Today it is 917 days since Moldova does not have a President
Today it is 917 days since the Republic of Moldova does not have a President, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said in the March 16 special sitting of Parliament. “We can say that during these 917 days Moldova showed that it has the ability needed to efficiently deal with its problems and to achieve the set objectives,” said the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
He also said that the expectations are now very high. “After the President is voted in, we will have to speed things up so that in the next parliamentary elections we have a strong position and do not face the barricades built by the Communists. I want to thank everyone for the work done during these 917 days,” said Vlad Filat.
He also thanked the foreign partners that supported Moldova and presidential candidate Nicolae Timofti for his effort to strengthen stability. He stressed that attempts were made to establish a dialog between the government and the Communist opposition, but they did not manage to because the views on Moldova’s future were different. “We did not want and do not want the narrow interests to prevail over the personal interests,” stated the Premier.
“The people should enjoy freedom. We know what we have to do. We have not only objectives, but also a definite plan of actions and people who will fulfill this plan. I’m confident that we will succeed.”
The voting procedure started at 10.00 and will last for at most an hour.
