Prime Minister Vlad Filat had a closed meeting with the new district chairmen on Monday. After the discussions, which lasted an hour, Vlad Filat told the press that talks focused on collaboration between central and local authorities and on the implementation of reforms. The Prime Minister asked the district chairmen to avoid repeating the mistakes of politicians in Chisinau and promised them equal treatment regardless of the parties they belong to, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We must be realistic, use public funds efficiently and solve as many problems to streamline our activity. We got a series of reforms we have to implement”, said Vlad Filat. Other matters discussed at the meeting were projects of cross-border cooperation, problems that local authorities face, problems related to central institutions as well. “This meeting marks the beginning of a new collaboration”, added Filat. Grigore Policinshi, PCRM member and chairman of Dubasari district, hopes that the administrative decentralization, the enhancement of local autonomy and improvement of public services will be achieved. “We must cooperate with civil society, with the people who have voted us and I hope that central public authorities will come with concrete steps to provide the people with high quality services”, he declared. “This is a brand new message. The focus is now on professional activity and not on party affiliation”, said PLDM’s Valeriu Tarigradschi, head of Glodeni district. “The Executive chose the right path in regard to European integration and cross-border relations. We all wish the improvement of districts’ economy and infrastructure and to increase people’s standard of life”, he added. The participants proposed to create the Association of District Chairmen. Such meetings with Prime Minister Vlad Filat will be organized every three months.
