The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova fulfilled its promise to conduct a clean and positive campaign without attacks on the opponents. Its only political adversary was the Communists Party, the party’s leader Vlad Filat said in a press briefing on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PLDM leader said the campaign was full of events. During five weeks, the leaders of the central staff alone took part in over 1,300 electoral meetings that involved more than 200,000 voters. Vlad Filat had 53 meetings with the voters and told them about Moldova’s prospects. Vlad Filat said that he invited the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin to a public debate for several times, to discuss the programs, solutions and views on the country’s development, but his invitations were turned down. “I did not think he was so coward and would refuse to meet with me. The questions I wanted to put to him are not Vlad Filat’s, but of many people of this country and Voronin was obligated to answer them,” he stated. “A debate between me and Voronin will take place, but within this Sunday’s elections, when the people will give a ‘grade’ to Communists’ lies and misinformation campaign,” Vlad Filat said. Vladimir Voronin refused Vlad Filat’s invitation three times. He argued he does not want to descend to a lower level by this debate.
