Vlad Filat orders awarding police captain Alexandru Tentiu

Prime Minister Vlad Filat instructed Minister of the Interior Alexei Roibu to award police captain Alexandru Tentiu and another two policemen who showed a similar attitude, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a meeting with Vlad Filat on April 24, Alexandru Tentiu told the Premier that several days ago he was asked by a person to intervene and help him get out his car that was blocked by vehicles of the employees of a private company in front of its head office. As the company’s administration did not react to the officer’s request, Alexandru Tentiu sought help from colleagues from the Traffic Police. Instead of helping him, they laughed at him. “You acted legally, correctly and with dignity,” said Vlad Filat. In a communiqué, the Government says that the Prime Minister thanked the policeman for his exemplary behavior, professionalism, performance and calmness while on duty. “It was a regrettable case as the police officer was insulted and obstructed in the course of his duty. In this connection, we will intervene at all levels. This shows that we must act quicker in the process of reforming the police so as to create appropriate work conditions for the police officers,” said Vlad Filat. He also said that the law is law and everyone must obey it, while those who flout it must be penalized. The Premier instructed the Ministry of the Inferior to investigate this case and to punish those who broke the law, including the policemen who did not provide the necessary support to their colleague.
