“Moldova’s entry into the EU in 2020 is an objective in which we believe and which is achievable”, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.
According to Filat, the accession to the EU depends on how the political class acts further. “To join the EU, we must first obtain the status of candidate and we plan to achieve this in 2017. For the purpose, we must file an application for accession not later than in 2015,” said the Liberal-Democratic leader.
Asked about possible post-electoral alliances, Filat said they will form a coalition with the pro-European parties and a coalition with the Communist Party is excluded. He voiced hope that the negotiations between the parties that will enter the legislative body after November 30 will be short as there are yet many problems to be solved, including the adoption of the 2015 state budget law.
“It’s not a tragedy if we enter 2015 with the budget law for 2014. The 2015 state budget law was drafted and, if we mobilize and start work immediately after the validation of seats, we will manage to adopt it in Parliament,” stated Filat.
He expressed his confidence that the Liberal Democratic Party will win the elections and will take part in governance, but does not rule out the possibility of shifting to the opposition. “Our party was formed in the opposition and we are not afraid of moving again to the opposition. But Moldova’s European course will be affected in this case. We must win the elections so as to further follow the path to the EU,” said Vlad Filat
