Vlad Filat maintains Moldtelecom tariffs should not be raised
Prime Minister Vlad Filat instructed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar to call an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Moldtelecom to discuss the annulment of the Board’s decision to introduce new fixed-line telephone tariffs and the possibility of stopping the examination and approval of the given tariffs so as to consider the issue and take an applicable decision in the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.
The Premier said that nothing has been done to stop the arbitrary steps taken by S.A. Moldtelecom to impose new tariffs on fixed-line telephone services. The national phone carrier continues to disseminate information about its intentions, arousing dissatisfaction among the people, who are already discontented with the recent rises in the prices of other products.
According to Vlad Filat, there is evident complicity between the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, the National Agency for Competition Protection the Ministry of Economy, which is empowered to manage the state property, and the managers of S.A.Moldtelecom in implementing the so-called program on the adjustment of the tariffs on fixed-line phones services. The related actions are illegal as they had not been coordinated with the Government.
The Prime Minister also demanded that he be personally informed about the results.
