The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat would accept to be designated as Prime Minister if particular conditions are met. At least this is what the Liberal-Democratic leader suggested in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau, IPN reports.
“I think it’s absolutely normal for a party chosen by the people to field its leader for particular key posts. We are yet to agree if the leaders of the three parties will occupy key posts. I will not oppose, no matter what common decision is taken by the coalition. We haven’t yet discussed candidates for premiership inside the party,” stated Vlad Filat.
He also said that the experience of 2013, when he was dismissed and the Constitutional Court didn’t allow him to hold the post of Premier, should be wiped out. “I consider that precedent of 2013 should be erased. When there is a rupture between the party and the person designated for a key post, the things do not go as they should,” said the Liberal-Democratic leader.
Vlad Filat expressed his regret at the fact that in 2013 he didn’t fully implement the idea of ensuring the functionality of the state institutions. “I regret that I didn’t go until the end in 2013 and that I conceded so as to prevent early elections. In this period, the government, owing to the politically controlled institutions, discredited itself a lot. Such successes as the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and the abolition of the visa requirements can no longer relieve people’s disappointment and distrust in the government,” he stated.
As to the arrest of his relatives on suspicion of involvement in the frauds committed at Banca de Economii, Vlad Filat said he will not comment on this case until the ruling alliance is formed and the Government is invested. “It is very hard as these are close relatives. They probably banked on my emotions. But I will not yield to pressure. The method and time when these actions were taken raise questions. What is important now is to form a Government as quickly as possible. The country is in a very difficult situation,” stated the leader of the PLDM.
