Vlad Filat: I wanted Government to be voted in with PL, not with PCRM

The chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat regrets the fact that a parliamentary majority could not be formed in Moldova and that the executive was installed with the help of the Party of Communist (PCRM), not of the Liberal Party (PL). The politician made such statements in the talk show “In depth” on Pro TV channel, IPN reports.

Vlad Filat said what is going on now in the country and around it requires securing a majority in Parliament. It’s a pity that discussions with the Liberal Party are now not held, but the fact that a government coalition was formed with the Democratic Party does not mean that this cannot be re-formed and that the Liberals cannot be involved in governance.

Asked what happened with the PLDM’s objective to remove the Communists from power, Vlad Filat said this goal was achieved as the Communists haven’t been in power since September 25, 2009.

“We didn’t deviate from the European course and will not deviate. We have very clear objectives and are supported by the European and American partners. I do not expect that the Communists will take the decisions in Parliament. I would like first of all the PL to take part in decision-making,” said Vlad Filat, adding that he hopes the PCRM’s role in Parliament will be yet constructive and that this party will vote the laws needed by the country.

As to the accusations concerning his involvement in the theft committed at Banca de Economii, Vlad Filat reiterated that these are groundless and that he is suing all those who denigrate him. He noted that he sued former MP Veaceslav Ionita and the judgment in this case is to be passed soon.
