Acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat has enjoyed the widest media coverage among politicians after the March 5 dismissal of the Government, according to rankings compiled by the public association “Start-Moldova”, IPN reports.

“Many political events happened in Moldova lately. The most prominent of them was the dismissal of the Government of the AEI-2. We decided that an analysis of the appearances in the media of the politicians is necessary,” “Start-Moldova” head Lilian Boboc said in a news conference. The rankings, produced between March 5 and April 7, include three chapters: “Top Cabinet Members”, “Top Political Leaders” and “Top Political Personalities”.

Among the members of the Cabinet, Vlad Filat had over 1,500 appearances in the media. He is followed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar with 208 appearances, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca (132), and Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean (65). The president of the Academy of Sciences Gheorghe Duca had seven appearances, while Minister of Transport Anatol Salaru only four appearances.

The Top Political Leaders rankings are also headed by Vlad Filat, who is the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party. President Nicolae Timofti comes next. The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu ranks third. The chairman of Democratic Action Party Mihai Godea and the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon had the lowest number of appearances in the media.

Vlad Filat leads the Top Political Personalities rankings too. He is followed by Nicolae Timofti and Mihai Ghimpu.

The public association “Start-Moldova” was founded last June. The project “Political leaders with extensive media coverage” aims to ensure transparency in the political processes in the country. The rankings are compiled through the agency of software developed by Marketing&PR, which enables to automatically monitor the online sources in real time by key words. There were analyzed 200 news websites of Moldova.
