Vlad Filat: Consolidation of political class is possible based on national interest

The consolidation of society and the political class in Moldova is possible only based on reason and the national interest, not the party one, said ex-Premier Vlad Filat. In a lecture at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the Liberal-Democratic leader said that he is concerned about the fact that the political situation becomes less attractive for the people with principles and values, IPN reports.

“I refer not to those who declare them, but to those who use them in the daily life. We must make everything possible for those who have abilities to contribute to attractive and efficient governance,” said Vlad Filat.

He also said that in 2005, when the PLDM was an opposition party, a unanimous vote was given for the European integration course. “We are obliged to joint our efforts in this sense. If there is cohesion, we will have results,” said the former Premier.

According to the leader of the PLDM, he is an incurable Euro-optimist and nobody and nothing will treat him, not even the crises in Europe and the delicate situation in the country. “I look at things not only through the angle of material advantages, but also from the perspective of the whole complex of values offered by the European area. I also discussed these aspects with the foreign partners that became Moldova’s friends,” he stated.

Vlad Filat underlined that the Republic of Moldova is the only Latin country in the European area that hasn’t yet joined the European Union.
