Premier Vlad Filat, the president of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), considers that Moldova does not have more reasons that Poland and Germany, which will take part in the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, to formulate a separate opinion on this issue. In a press briefing on April 27, Vlad Filat said he is not contended that some of his colleagues from the Alliance for European Integration said that the Moldovan soldiers will not participate in the parade before the Alliance announced its political decision, Info-Prim Neo reports “Some of my colleagues lately abandoned the fight against the Communists and give the impression that they fight with their own Government. It is said that our army does not have money to send soldiers to the parade, but nobody asks the Government if it is true or not. They say the Moldovan soldiers could faint at the parade. I think these issues are very serious and should not be treated as an electoral advantage by a party or another,” Vlad Filat said. He stressed that the professionals of the National Army are able to deal with all the challenges and the participation in the parade is a gesture of solidarity of the peoples against fascism. Vlad Filat criticized Acting President Mihai Ghimpu, the leader of the Liberal Party, for expressing his disagreement with the political decision of the Alliance without providing arguments. The PLDM leader also said that the participation in the parade does not affect the Transnistrian conflict settlements talks in which Moscow takes part. At the end of the briefing, he said that the Alliance has more important things to do than discuss subjects like the parade. Vlad Filat said from now on he will also make statements not coordinated with the Alliance, as his colleagues do. At the same time, he said the Alliance is solid and continues to implement the government program it undertook. “As president of the PLDM, I will continue to promote the decisions taken by the Alliance, but will also express my opinion when need be,” he said.
