The president of the PLDM Vlad Filat is confident the head of state will be elected even if he does not yet have solutions allowing this to happen, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a program on ProTV Chisinau, Vlad Filat said the ruling alliance will have discussions to identify an acceptable formula for electing the President of Moldova. According to the leader of the PLDM, the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) is ready to make compromises to the PRCM so that the head of state is elected. Asked if these compromises include accepting the PCRM's candidate for President, Vlad Filat said that Marian Lupu is the only candidate of the governing alliance for head of state and the PDM leader will have to personally negotiate with the Communist parliamentary groups to obtain their votes. “The head of state is Moldova's President not of the alliance, as the Government. The related discussions should take place within the alliance as well as between the candidate for the presidency and the Communist parliamentary group,” Vlad Filat said. The parties of the AEI have together 59 seats of MP and need two more seats to elect the head of state.
