The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat loses points in the rankings of Top 50 most influential politicians that are compiled monthly by the Institute for Political Analysis and Consultancy “Politicon”. The Institute’s head Anatol Taranu said that even if Vlad Filat held the lead in April too, he has only by one point more than his party colleague, interim Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, and may go down next month, IPN reports.
Anatol Taranu considers that Vlad Filat will soon dedicate himself exclusively to party work so as to improve his declining rating. If Iurie Leanca is nominated for premiership, he will take the lead.
The third position is taken by the Communist Party head Vladimir Voronin. The head of “Politicon” explained that this is due to the fact that Vladimir Voronin is very active in the situation of political crisis and is very probable that he will go up in the May rankings.
Vladimir Voronin is followed by the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu. Anatol Taranu believes this position shows that the PDM plays an important role in the country’s political life and has a say in the process of solving the crisis.
Marian Lupu’s party colleague Vlad Plahotniuc comes fifth. Experts consider that he is one of the most influential politicians even if he does not hold an administrative post.
“Politicon” deputy head Ion Tabarta said that the sixth position is taken by the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu, while the seventh and eight positions by the Mayor of Chisinau and deputy chairman of the PL Dorin Chirtoaca and the head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet. President Nicolae Timofti ranks ninth, while the head of the Democratic faction Dumitru Diacov comes tenth.
The rankings were produced with the assistance of 33 experts who assessed the politicians by their influence on major decisions, public popularity and visibility in the mass media.
