Vlad Filat: Budget can be adopted later

The draft budget law for the next year will be submitted to the Government for approval by October 1. Prime Minister Vlad Filat thinks it is not possible for the Parliament to pass it in three readings before dissolution, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Premier, even if the legislative body succeeds in adopting the budget law, the Government that will be invested after elections, regardless of its composition, will have its own view on Moldova’s economic development, which will be presented to Parliament. Vlad Filat, the leader of the Lib-Dems, does not share political analysts’ concerns that the non-adoption of the budget will negatively affect the pace of economic recovery after the crisis and, mainly the process of attracting investments to economy. “They say that the potential investors cannot formulate their plans when the budget is not adopted and they don’t know the Government’s fiscal policy. This is not true. We have an average-term strategic plan that defines the budgetary-fiscal framework for three years. The fiscal policy until 2013 has been generally announced,” said the Premier. He also said that nothing terrible will happen if the budget is not agreed by the end of this year as the budget for 2010 sets parameters that are applicable the next year as well.
