The chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat said he is not surprised by the hysterical reactions of those who attacked him and tried to distort the meaning of his initiative concerning the holding of a referendum simultaneously with the parliamentary elections. According to him, those who attack him disseminate lies, Moldpres reported, quoted by IPN.
The party’s chairman said that Moldova’s European future is supported by the largest part of the people. The current government coalition and the support of the majority enjoyed by the pro-European parties are a proof. “Given this fact, a national referendum on the European course will be an action of national unity and will help ‘neutralize’ the deceitful parties. I mean the Communists and their satellites. They know that such an exercise will be successful and thus have these strange reactions,” said the leader of the PLDM, underlining that the marginal dwarfs always want to be the center of attention.
He added that a referendum cannot be only a political initiative and can be successful only as a result of the national consensus of all the pro-European forces. “We will discuss with the colleagues from the coalition and not only with them. This consensus is crucial. This action is also a test for the parties that declare themselves pro-European,” said Vlad Filat.
In this connection, he transmitted a message to those who are afraid of this referendum, urging them to overcome this state by struggle and action, to leave the computers and studios and go out to plead for a European Moldova. “Moldova’s European future requires struggle, action and work, not only analyses,” stated Vlad Filat.
Earlier, Vlad Filat said that a referendum on enshrining the European integration objective in Moldova’s Constitution may be held concurrently with the legislative elections
A number of politicians stated their opinions on this initiative. The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said that he is expecting the PLDM to take concrete steps in the fight against corruption.
