Vlad Filat: 2012 was decisive in the process of European integration
2012 was a decisive year in the process of European integration because of the consistency of the dialogue with European partners, at the level of the European Commission, of the European Parliament and some EU members. The statement was made by Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Prime Minister said on Saturday on Radio Moldova that 2012 was a year with numerous achievements. “We made big progress in the negotiations regarding the Association Agreement. It includes the Free Trade Agreements. I really want this document to be signed. I’m confident in this regard. But we’ll have hard work after signing it as well. We must adjust the legislation and be swift in implementing it. 2013 will be the year of decisional responsibilities in Moldova”, said the Prime Minister.
Vlad Filat added that 2012 was important for Moldova’s path towards modernization. “We had a lot of challenges this year, but we managed to move forward towards our goals and these are: a democratic state with functional institutions that provides welfare for its citizens”.
He admitted however that economically 2012 was less successful, considering some objective situations: the GDP dropped by 2.5% because of the drought.
The Prime Minister said that despite all the challenges, the state institutions managed to adjust the legislative framework and worked towards ensuring a proper legal framework for foreign partners. “We want Moldova to have good relations with both its eastern and western partners”, he said.
Regarding the Transnistrian conflict, Vlad Filat said that the region has no other future than as part of Moldova. “In order for the people to live well in Moldova, we must continue to work, to have a dialogue”, said the Prime Minister. He thinks that in 2012 there was good communication and numerous meetings in the 5+2 format, without any aggression and jams.
