The head of the Public Association “Honor, Dignity and Homeland” (ODIP) Vlad Biletski said he is investigated by the police as a result of the protests mounted after the elections. The young man said he will challenge in court the two reports filed against him and described these actions as intimidation.
In a news conference at IPN, the Association’s head said following the protests staged after the elections, two reports were compiled against him. One of these is over the fact that the protesters moved in a column from the Great National Assembly Square to the Central Election Commission (CEC) at a time when the application submitted to the Chisinau City Hall said the protest will be mounted in the Square.
Vlad Biletski explained that the decision to march to the CEC was taken spontaneously. The protest was also spontaneous. The notification application was filed 15 minutes before the event as he wanted to act like a conscientious citizen and to inform the authorities. In this case, he was fined 1,000 lei.
According to him, the second report was produced because the protesters blocked traffic on Vasile Alecsandri St when they chanted in front of the CEC. The young man explained that the protesters didn’t intend to block traffic, but, as the crowd was large, the people didn’t have enough space on the sidewalks and moved to the roadway.
Vlad Biletski reminded of the protests of the Party of Socialists, when tents were intentionally pitched on the roadway even if there was enough space on the sidewalks. Nobody was held accountable then because justice is selective. The court is yet to pronounce on the second report.
The ODIP leader said he will not pay the fine and will dispute the decision in court. If the court does not do justice to him, he is ready to go to the European Court of Human Rights.
Vlad Biletski also said he will insist on the demands of the protesters, namely to invalidate the presidential runoff and to rerun the elections.
