In the next Parliament, the Socialists will initiate the amendment of the Constitution so that the Republic of Moldova switches over from the parliamentary system of government to the presidential one, Socialist MP Vlad Batrincea stated in the talk show “Direct access” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“We hope and believe that this bill to amend the Constitution and switch over to the presidential system of government has prospects,” said the MP. According to him, in the situation of the Republic of Moldova only a powerful President can ensure real democracy and independent justice.
Vlad Batrincea noted that in a presidential system the President is the head of the executive power, but Parliament remains to adopt laws. “The system remains. There will be parliamentarianism and debates on bills. The laws will be mandatorily adopted by Parliament. Only the system is balanced,” he stated.
The MP also said that last November the Party of Socialists launched a campaign to collect signatures in favor of the switchover to the presidential system of government.
