Vitalie Zaharia: Reorganization of “Moldova’s Post Office” bothers particular persons

As to the accusations about the losses sustained by the company in 2020, Vitalie Zaharia said these were caused by the pandemic, which led to a halt in postal exchanges with all the member states of the Universal Postal Union, including with China and Singapore, which have the biggest share in this circuit. “The international exchange of mail and the provision of services are the company’s main sources of income. These declined considerably in 2020, by 30% on 2019 or by 120 million lei. The international circuit was restored, including with China, and the online platforms will become accessible in the nearest future. The largest part of the incurred costs, of 85% or 320 million lei, are costs associated with the payment of salaries that remained at the same level in 2020 and now too,” said the director.

As to the purchases of goods made in 2020, Vitalie Zaharia said the budget of 45 million lei planned for the purpose was 18% executed, which is only 8.2 million lei was spent.
