Vitalie Vrabie: We agreed with Romanian authorities to avoid jamming at checkpoints

The head of the Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie agreed with his Romanian counterpart Claudiu Ardeleanu to make effort to avoid jamming at border crossing points during the Easter holidays. The announcement was made in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

“We synchronized our activity with that of the border police so as not to block border traffic. Regretfully, the situation is different on the Romanian side owing to the shortage of staff. I spoke to Claudiu Ardeleanu and he promised he will do his best for the jams to be avoided during the Easter holidays, when many Moldovans return home for a short period,” stated Vitalie Vrabie.

He noted that Moldova and Romania reached an agreement on the creation of joint checkpoints on the Moldovan-Romanian border. “Bucharest is waiting for Brussels’ consent and the first joint checkpoint will be then set up at the Cahul-Oancea customs post,” he said.

Vitalie Vrabie also said that all the border crossing points of Moldova remain yet vulnerable to corruption.
