VIP hall of airport closed. Commission for Exceptional Situations orders other measures

The VIP hall of the Chisinau International Airport was closed. This is one of the protection and prevention measures applying to the airport that were ordered by the Commission for Exceptional Situations. By the same decision, the border police were empowered to examine the buildings and precincts of the Airport in case of bomb threats, IPN reports.

The border police will be trained and permanently assisted by an employee of the General Police Inspectorate with duties to identify explosive devices and to ensure the observance of reaction measures in case of bomb scares.

The Commission banned the access to the Chisinau International Airport of persons other than passengers, employees of business entities or public authorities that work at the airport and crew members.

The Border Police noted that the first check when entering the airport implies baggage scanning, parking of vehicles near the airport is banned, while the precincts are daily patrolled.

The Chisinau International Airport became the target of almost daily bomb threats that disrupt its program, including by delays in flights.
