Viorica Dumbrăveanu: We haven’t got any case of coronavirus in Moldova

Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu denied the reports that a case of the novel coronavirus was discovered in Moldova. She said the Moldovan authorities are taking all the necessary precautionary measures to be ready, if need be, IPN reports.

“We took a number of measures to assess the situation in medical institutions as regards the supply of medicines, medical devices and protection equipment. We also trained the medical personnel how to increase vigilance in case of suspicion or of a definite case of coronavirus,” Viorica Dumbrăveanu stated in the talk show “Direct Access” on NTV Moldova channel.

According to the minister, the health facilities are ready to adjust some of the sections, if necessary. “We identified the expert laboratories in the region. There is a high-performance lab in Germany. We do not say that the Republic of Moldova is not equipped, buy this is a new virus that underwent mutations. Therefore, not all the laboratories are prepared to detect it,” stated Viorica Dumbrăveanu.

Furthermore, the World Health Organization provides assistance in the form of high-precision fast-track tests for the coronavirus. “Prevention and control measures are being taken. What is more important is that they are taken not only at the Ministry I represent, but also at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Border Police, the Customs Service and many other institutions,” added the minister.

According to international press reports, the death toll from the coronavirus passed 1,100.
