The families with children can benefit from state support. If the family with children is in a situation of risk, it can ask for family support in the amount of up to 4,000 lei per child from the social assistant. In the case of families of adults, these can ask for up to 6,000 lei per person in assistance. This money is provided depending on necessities, stated Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu.

“In both of the cases, the situation will be assessed to see what problems the family faces and an assistance plan is worked out. The money is provided for the needs of this family. In both of the cases, the decision on the provision of benefit is taken by a district commission that assess the needs and determines the size of the financial support,” Viorica Dumbrăveanu was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Direct access” on NTV Moldova channel.

According to her, the legislation stipulates the cases when this support is provided. For example, the dwelling is in a deplorable state, the house was damaged by floods or by fire or the family needs wood for heating, if the beneficiaries do not get cold-month allowances. It depends not on the social category, but on the difficulty faced by the person. The money is offered for solving a particular problem.

Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the use of the money will be monitored by the social assistant whose duty is to check if the family support or the financial support is used for the right purpose.
