The court extended the judicial control for the former chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari for another 60 days. Spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) Maria Vieru has told IPN that the prosecutors’ request was accepted on April 10.
Viorel Morari was arrested on January 10 on charges of abuse of power, falsification of public documents and interference in the criminal investigation procedures. The case was sent to court on February 12. Also then, the PGO announced that a new criminal case was started against the former head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office over unjust enrichment and money laundering in extremely large amounts by using the held post.
Viorel Morari was set free from pretrial detention in the courtroom and was placed under judicial control for 60 days, starting with February 14. He pleads not guilty.
