Viorel Iordachescu wins Nakhchivan Open 2012

International grand master Viorel Iordachescu has won the Nakhchivan Open 2012 tournament that closed in Azerbaijan on May 6, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Chess Academy of Moldova. The Moldovan chess player topped the rankings throughout the competition. After beating Alexei Aleksandrov from Belarus in the fifth round, Viorel Iordachescu ranked first in the final with 6.5 points of 9 possible. The tournament involved 47 chess players from Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Netherlands, and Moldova.
