The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) has a candidate for the early mayoral elections that will be held in Chisinau municipality on May 20 this year, but they could support a common candidate of the parties of the right, the party’s leader Viorel Cibotaru stated in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel, IPN reports.
Viorel Cibotaru noted they are realistic and analyze things to see what contribution the PLDM’s candidate can make for the right to win the elections in the municipality. “We will take a decision when we determine the extent to which our behavior can contribute to this common victory of the pro-European parties. It is a very difficult task. It should be explained to the party’s staff,” said the leader of the PLDM. According to him, in the local elections the PLDM will focus mainly on its platform.
The Liberal-Democratic leader said the own analyses showed the citizens do not want the candidate in the municipal mayoral elections to be politicized. “The people want a person who would not be controlled by parties and would be less affiliated, who would be a good manager and would communicate well with the Government, political parties and different groups of interest,” stated Viorel Cibotaru.
