Viorel Bologan took the 69th place at the European Chess Championships in Georgia that involved 302 contenders, IPN reports.
In the last round, the Grand International Master drew with Armenia’s Shant Sargsyan and scored 6.5 points out of 11 possible. Viorel Bologan was the only Moldovan chess player who competed in the European Chess Championships in Batumi.
Croatia’s Ivan Saric became European champion with 8.5 points. He was followed by Poland’s Radoslaw Wojtaszek and Russia’s Sanan Sjugirov who both scored by 8 points. The top 22 ranked will be able to compete in the World Cup.
