The VinOpera 2024 International Classical Music Festival has come to an end, and we, the Constantin Mimi Foundation, are pleased to reflect on the seventh edition of this unique event in the Republic of Moldova, which for the second consecutive year, was held over three days, with two of the concerts being open to the public free of charge. This year, we once again succeeded in organizing exceptional concerts with remarkable artists, thereby promoting classical music and culture to our citizens who are passionate about beauty.
The gala performance took place on September 6 at Castel Mimi, attended by almost 1,000 music lovers, including ambassadors, artists, journalists, representatives of the business community, and cultural institutions, among them the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, attending VinOpera for the second time.
The event brought together important names from the national and international opera scene on the stage of Castel Mimi, and the surprise of this edition was the incomparable soprano Elena Moșuc, winner of the prestigious Oscar della Lirica competition in 2019, becoming one of the world's most valuable voices.
This was followed by two more performances, by Select Quartet Plus and soloists Tatiana Costiuc and Igor Țurcanu, for 200 people from the villages of Telița and Bulboaca. We organized unique concerts with a special artistic program, promoting classical music and European cultural values in rural areas, where the audience had free access.
VinOpera attracted the interest of those present, as well as viewers and online users. The events from September 6, 14, and 15 were watched live by almost 150,000 followers on online platforms, and over 60,000 people watched the concerts on television via Rlive TV.
Cristina Frolov, President of the Constantin Mimi Foundation: "We were delighted to have the support of partners, locals, mayors, and classical music enthusiasts. 'VinOpera is the best classical music concert in Moldova,' as those who attended told us. We believe it is the best because it contributes to societal change and promotes truly important values."
The Constantin Mimi Foundation is an active promoter of sustainability, and the events we organize are nature-friendly. In addition to the wine train, which has become a tradition, allowing hundreds of cars to remain parked in Chișinău, thus reducing the carbon footprint in the atmosphere, we organized two of the three concerts using exclusively solar energy, produced through the photovoltaic park at the castle.
We eliminated plastic, and at all three events, we served wine to guests in recyclable glassware. At the gala concert, each spectator received eco-friendly bracelets, which they returned at the end, so they can be used in the spring to tie the vines in the winery's plantations.
The expanded format of the VinOpera International Classical Music Festival, with two free concerts, was organized with the financial support of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova within the Romanian Government and thanks to the partnership with the Ministry of Culture and the Romanian Cultural Institute "Mihai Eminescu" in Chișinău.
