Villagers in Floresti district get access to tap water
The aqueduct in Rosieticii Vechi village, Floresti district, which was constructed with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Moldova, will be put in operation on Friday, December 14.
The water pipeline was installed by the residents of the village, who were paid for their work by UNDP through the mayor’s office. Representatives of UNDP Moldova say that the remuneration constituted a partial compensation for the loss sustained as a result of this summer’s drought.
UNDP Moldova allocated 20,000 USD to the mayor’s office of Rosieticii Vechi for building the aqueduct. The local administration contributed 15% of this sum in the form of construction materials for the aqueduct and other non-monetary contributions.
The pipeline was built as part of the Integrated Local Development Programme implemented by UNDP Moldova.
