Vignette Bill passed into law

The bill introducing road tolls on foreign cars, also known as the Vignette Bill, passed the second and final reading on Friday to become law, Info-Prim Neo reports. After the law takes effect on November 1, all drivers of cars registered outside of Moldova will have to pay a tax for road use, varying on the duration of stay in Moldova. The following tolls will be levied: 2 euros for 7 days, 4 euros for 15 days, 7 euros for 30 days, 15 euros for 90 days and 25 euros for a maximum of 180 days. The fines for evading payment will range from 2,000 to 4,000 lei. Earlier the Ministry of Finance proposed vignette rates of 7, 65 and 380 euros for 3, 30 and 180 days, respectively. The Government revised the rates following negative reactions, in particular from Moldovan migrant workers who usually drive foreign cars when coming to Moldova on vacation.
