Affected are the brain, the thorax and the abdomen, at rather high levels of severity”, said Emergency Hospital head Grigore Ciobanu Saturday afternoon. “The positive signs that we managed to obtain starting at 1:00 PM on Friday seem to persist. The blood circulation has stabilized, the kidneys are working properly and the treatment goes on”, added Ciobanu. The doctor denied rumors that last night Grigore Vieru suffered a third heart attack. Ciobanu said the hospitalization and treatment costs are fully covered by the government. “The assistance offered by the Romanian authorities is not needed at this point. The hospitalization conditions for Grigore Vieru are adequate and meet the European standards”, Ciobanu assured. The 73-year-old poet Grigore Vieru was hospitalized with severe injuries after a car accident in the early-morning hours of Friday. Police blamed the accident on bad weather and high speeds.
