Video cameras ensure students’ safety at Chisinau high school

The students of “Spiru Haret” High School will feel better protected now that a video supervision system was set up at the institution. The school’s head Victor Ambroci has told Info-Prim Neo that the system was installed recently and is designed to ensure the students’ safety. “The students reacted positively to such an idea as they understand that we want to ensure maximum security,” said Victor Ambroci. He specified that the new system will also help avoid incidents between the students and between students and persons from outside the school, who come ‘to settle an account’. Victor Ambroci also said that the behavior of the students has already changed. The students are more careful as they know that they are monitored. However, not all of them realize this. There were set up 21 video cameras, including on the first floor and within the perimeter of the building – at the entrance, in front and at the back. By autumn, cameras will be fixed along the corridors of the four floors and in the computer halls. Cameras were also installed in the office of the school’s head and in the guard room. Victor Ambroci said he put forward the idea of setting up video cameras and the Coordination Board of the Parents Association supported it. The costs incurred totaled 70,000 lei. The money was provided by the Parents Association. According to the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, “Spiru Haret” is the only school in the municipality of Chisinau outfitted with a video supervision system.
