57% of the Romanians intend to vote for Victor Ponta in the November 2 presidential elections in Romania, said members of the National Union of Independence War Veterans, who called on the Romanian citizens from Moldova to take part in the elections and to support the current Romanian Premier.
In a news conferee at IPN on October 29, Lieutenant-Colonel Victor Alexeev said the Nistru war veterans urge the Romanians everywhere to support Victor Ponta in the presidential race because he showed by deeds that he cares about all the Romanians. “The Bessarabians must vote together with the Romanians from over the Prut and support a head of state that unites us,” he stated.
Colonel Gheorghe Slutu said the Government headed by Victor Ponta implemented projects to the value of about €25 million in Moldova. Among the most important projects is the construction of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline that is to be extended up to Chisinau. Romania also donated 100 minibuses for transporting students to school and supported the renovation of hundreds of nursery schools in Moldova.
“If Victor Ponta is elected President of Romania, we will also enjoy support. We, the veterans of the Nistru war, call on the people not to be indifferent and to vote for Victor Ponta on November 2,” stated Gheorghe Slutu.
Major Andrei Calcea said that Victor Ponta is a true patriot and the Nistru war veterans decided to do everything possible for namely a patriot to govern Romania.
Fourteen candidates are running in the Romanian presidential elections.
