Victor Parlicov discharged from post

Victor Parlicov was dismissed from the post of director general of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) by the votes of the parliamentary majority. The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu didn’t support the draft decision, saying that Parlicov’s dismissal is illegal as the post of ANRE director general is held for life. He announced he will appeal the decision to the Constitutional Court, IPN reports.

Ghimpu made reference to the Law on Energy under which the ANRE director can be discharged by Parliament when he loses the citizenship, is unable to hold the post for health reasons, is elected to another position, is convicted, or for other reasons.

The draft decision was submitted by Speaker Igor Corman. He said he took such a decision after holding consultations with the groups that form the parliamentary majority. Sergiu Ciobanu, who earlier held the post of deputy minister of economy, was named in his place.

The other posts of ANRE directors will be held by Ghenadie Parciu and Iurie Onica. They replaced Nicolae Railean and Leonid Belinschi, whose term in office expired. The ANRE has five directors.

Today, July 12, Parliament holds its last sitting of the spring-summer session. The MPs will go on the annual leave on July 15 and will return on August 17. Under the Law on the Status of MP and the Parliament’s Regulations, the lawmakers are entitled to annual paid leave of 36 workdays, with the week being considered as having six workdays. The leave is usually granted during the Christmas vacation and the summer vacation..
