In 2009, Moldova became a theater for the hybrid war between oligarchic groups that struggled for political, socioeconomic and financial domination. If this process hadn’t stopped in January 2016, nothing would have remained of Moldova’s sovereignty, considers political and economic analyst Victor Gurau, director of the Center for Strategic Analysis and Monitoring “Alternative for Moldova”. In a news conference at IPN, the analyst said Moldova avoided anarchy, but the oligarchic groups pursuing economic goals most probably didn’t give up and the state security is thus in danger.
Victor Gurau presented a number of schemes that, according to him, show that the robbing of the financial-banking and insurance systems was planned and orchestrated by criminal groups that include Veaceslav Platon, Vlad Filat, Victor and Viorel Topa, Renato Usatyi and others.
The analyst noted that in January 2013 he warned about the de-capitalization of Banca de Economii, involvement of political-oligarchic groups and, most important, about the risks that threaten the national security. The documents he possesses show that the schemes implemented in 2009 - 2016 had been well-thought-out and managed by criminals and politicians. “I call on the Prosecutor General’s Office to set up a special investigation group to clarify the attack on Moldova’s national security staged by these groups,” he stated.
“In January 2013, I drew attention to the secret transactions performed with the aim of de-capitalizing the financial-banking system, its robbing and controlling and imposing of game rules in Moldova on the whole.”
Victor Gurau said the so-called independent press presumed that the attack was staged by the leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc, but in reality all the shares were appropriated by Veaceslav Platon, who, following an agreement reached with ex-Premier Vlad Filat, triggered a war to gain control of the banking and insurance systems. After 2013, Renato Usatyi became adviser to the Premier, but this is the key figure that destabilizes Moldovan politics.
The analyst noted that the protest movement launched in 2015 under the guidance of Andrei Nastase stages all kinds of attacks on the government, but these attacks are actually aimed at distracting attention from particular things done by oligarchic groups.
