Chisinau councilor Victor Gurau, who is running for a new term on the ticket of the Party of Communists, said a number of Socialist MPs illegally received land in Stauceni commune of Chisinau municipality in exchange for their support for the current mayor of the village Valentin Satnic in the coming elections. Socialist lawmaker Ion Ceban has told IPN that Victor Gurau made such accusations in a move to attract attention as the Communists continue to slip in the polls.
Victor Gurau said three Socialist MPs presented false documents to the Stauceni Local Council and received by a plot of 4 ares in area. Socialist lawmaker Ion Ceban didn’t declare his apartment that is 230 square meters in area.
According to Victor Gurau, the Socialists’ candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Zinaida Grecheanyi directly took part in the stealing of the US$1 billion from Banca de Economii when she was minister of finance as she facilitated the provision of loans of over €1 million to a company owned by her husband.
The Socialists replied by leveling criticism at the Communists. “The Party of Communists needs sensations and found this clown, who is also a political analyst and a municipal councilor and who was involved in considerable thefts and appropriation schemes, to divert people’s attention away from the serious things happening in Moldova,” stated Ion Ceban.
He noted that Victor Gurau and all those who accuse Zinaida Grecheanyi of taking part in the theft committed at Banca de Economii will be sued.
