The annulment of the parliamentary immunity and the arrest of Vlad Filat represent a well-planned show, not an act of justice as they assert, commentator Victor Ciobanu said in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“I will be able to say that justice works only when a criminal case is started against a high-ranking official of the Democratic Party (PDM) and this is arrested,” stated Ciobanu.

He considers that this scenario was designed in a move to save the prosecutor general from dismissal. “The leaders of the ruling alliance on the eve agreed to dismiss Gurin. But this came in Parliament and requested that Vlad Filat be deprived of parliamentary immunity so that he could be investigate and arrested. By this scenario, Corneliu Gurin was saved,” said the commentator.

Ciobanu noted that a similar situation was witnessed when the issue of the dismissal of ex-prosecutor general Valeriu Zubco was raised. “They invited Zubco to present a report in Parliament, while this came with a number of criminal cases and pointed the finger at the MPs. The lawmakers ultimately gave up and Zubco tendered his resignation only after the incident in the Domneasca Forest,” he stated.

Within a telephone call during the program, Vadim Pistrinciuc, deputy head of the Liberal Democratic Party, said the developments show that selective justice was applied with regard to Filat.
