Ex-deputy mayor Victor Chironda said all the accusations presented to explain his dismissal were invented and are not true. Everyone realized that this dismissal was elementary political revenge. The accusations made against him by the mayor or councilors who voted for his dismissal are not true and are not justified. The presented arguments that he didn’t fulfill his duties and was absent from work are invented reasons. “I do not challenge the right of the mayor and the Council to dismiss me from the post of deputy mayor, but the reasons stated in the draft decision of the CMC are false. I will go to court to prove that I fulfilled my duties in accordance with the law,” the ex-deputy mayor stated in a news conference at IPN.
He noted that his so-called absence from work was a trap set by his colleagues. He filed a complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office and prepared suits. “The real reason for my dismissal was the fact that I opposed the demolition of Naţional Hotel and other intentions to promote giant constructions and residential buildings in the city. As regards the hotel, we are working on this and will challenge also the issued demolition authorization. We will continue discussions with society and dwellers. We will continue to make approaches for the Ministry of Culture to take decisions to place the building under state protection,” noted Victor Chironda.
In the same conference, Victor Chironda presented the activity report for the period during which he held the post of deputy mayor of Chisinau municipality. When he took up his duties, he set three priorities – to set processes as the real changes occur when such activities as the repair of parks or sidewalls are carried out systemically by specially contracted teams, based on projects with clear progress and quality indicators. The second priority was to build teams as the City Hal lacks specialists and the attraction of experts with studies, experience and initiative is more important that the attraction of money that would be managed by incompetent and corrupt functionaries. The third priory was to ensure communication, consultancy and decisional transparency as things need to be done systematically and institutionally.
Victor Chironda spoke about the projects in which he became involved directly, such as the strategy for developing infrastructure for alternative transport, e-ticketing, re-projection of 31 august St, projection of Eminescu square, pay parking lots, street design guidebook, concept-contest for renovating central parks, dedicated strips and others.
In the end, Victor Chironda said the people should realize that this conflict appeared not because he was inefficient in his post. “What happened is a bad sign for the residents of Chisinau. The only way out is to get rid of persons who like to occupy posts and satisfy their interests. A change will occur soon and this change will generate particular changes at the Chisinau City Hall I will monitor how the things I initiated are implemented. If nothing is done, I will point the finger at those to blame. I will continue to come with good projects for the city,” concluded Victor Chironda.
