Victor Chirila: Moldova missed for good chance of entering EU as an independent state

The referendum on the UK’s exist from the European Union will have an impact both on the EU and on the countries that aspire to join this union at a certain moment, considers Victor Chirila, the executive director of the Foreign Policy Association. On a social networking site, he wrote that the Republic of Moldova missed the chance of joining the EU, at least as an independent state, IPN reports.

“Brexit means uncertain times for the EU. The EU’s enlargement, regretfully, is over. From now on the EU will be preoccupied with its own survival. As regards Moldova, the situation is very sad. Moldova missed for good the chance of entering the EU as an independent state. We are alone in front of imminent storms,” wrote Victor Chirila.

In the June 23 referendum in the UK, about 52% of those who took part in it voted for the UK to leave the European Union.
