Victor Carapcevschi is the first Moldovan eliminated from the World Boxing Championship held in Kazakhstan. He left the competition after the first round, IPN reports.
Carapcevschi, 75kg class, was beaten by England’s Antony Fowler 0-3. Earlier, victories to Moldova were brought by Alexandru Rascan (52 kg) and Vasile Belous (69 kg). Rascan eliminated a boxer from India, while Belous qualified for the second round after scoring a 3-0 victory against Jamontay Clark from the U.S.
Two more Moldova boxers will enter the competition on October 18 - Dumitru Galagot (64 kg) and Vladimir Cheles (91 kg). “Galagot has a very good chance of winning medals,” the coach of Moldova’s squad Petru Cadu said before leaving for Kazakhstan.
Moldova is represented by eight boxers in Almaty.
