Victor Alexeev urges Bessarabians to take part in elections on Dec. 9

Victor Alexeev, who is the Social-Liberal Union’s candidate in the December 9 legislative elections of Romania, calls on the Bessarabian Romanians to take an active part in the elections. He is convinced that only this way the Romanians living in Moldova will make themselves heard by the Romanian authorities, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference in Chisinau, Victor Alexeev said he regrets that many of the 28 points that he included in his electoral platform have not been yet implemented by those who are in power. He refers especially to the legislation on the regaining of Romanian nationality. He said the procedure is difficult and somebody in Bucharest transformed it into a business. Victor Alexeev stressed that in other countries it is not so hard to obtain nationality. This shows that the law is not functional. There are Bessarabians who filed the applications for nationality in 2009 or 2010 and have not yet received an answer. The candidate is concerned about the mass migration of the Romanians from Moldova. In his electoral program, he pleads for the establishment of a special center for attracting foreign investments and for the creation of workplaces for all the Romanians so that they do not have to leave their families and go abroad to work. He also proposes setting up parliamentary offices on Moldova’s territory. He considers that the representative elected by the Bessarabians in the Parliament of Romania should live in Moldova on a permanent basis so as to be in touch with the people. Victor Alexeev said the Moldovans cannot benefit much from the small-scale traffic permit because there are few aces ways over the Prut. He considers there should be built more bridged over the river. As to the cultural aspects, the candidate said that the Bessarabians know better the events in Russia than in Romania even if the first is located farther. He underlined the necessity of bringing the Romanian TV channels back to the media market of Moldova. According to Victor Alexeev, for the first time in the EU, the office of a MEP will be opened outside the European community’s borders, in Chisinau, and this is a good sign. Victor Alexeev is running in the elections for the Chamber of Deputies, constituency 43, Diaspora, uninominal college No.2.
