Victims of second deportation wave to be commemorated in Chisinau

The victims of the second deportation wave, which took place on July 6, 1949, will be commemorated on Friday. The rally will begin at 9 AM, in the Railway Station Square in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Municipality. After the commemorative rally, participants will be invited to the Creation Workshop of the Plastic Artists’ Association at the intersection of V.Docuceaev and G.Asachi streets, where they will get the chance to see the deportees’ monument, still unfinished. The Chisinau City Hall will ensure the deportees’ transportation. At 12 AM, local authorities will organize a commemorative lunch at Cupidon Restaurant on Vlaicu Parcalab Street (ULIM). The second deportation wave took place on July 6, 1949, when 11,293 families were deported. The number of victims was 35,796, including 9,864 men, 14,033 women and 11,889 children.
