Victims of repression will be commemorated Sunday all over Moldova

The library of Tataresti village, Straseni district, will hold Sunday, July 4, an event to commemorate the second wave of deportations of July 6, 1949, with the support of the local mayor’s office and the district library. The event will bring together deportees and students of the local school. A service will be held at the church to remember the victims of repression, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the organizers, 33 persons from Tataresti were deported or arrested abusively for political reasons since 1941 until 1953. Seven persons were buried in Siberia, including three men who were killed in the concentration camp IvdelLAG. Politicians, dignitaries, historians and representatives of the Association of Deportees and of the Association “Parlamentul-90” were invited to the event. Similar events will be organized in a number of settlements. The commemorative event in Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti, will be attended by Acting President Mihai Ghimpu. He will participate in the inauguration of a cross in memory of the victims of the Soviet occupation and in a religious ceremony.
