The bacteria Vibrio cholera was detected on the beach in Vadul lui Vodă town of the municipality of Chisinau, the chief health officer of Chisinau Boris Gîlca announced in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.
“In the warm period, the Chisinau Public Health Center analyzes water in rivers and lakes for presence of infections. I want to warn the population that the bacteria Vibrio cholera was found on the beach in Vadul lui Vodă following the examination of the last samples. That’s why we warn those who sunbathe or swim to be careful and listen to the doctors’ advice. If they bathe, they should take a shower, but should bear in mind the possible consequences,” stated Boris Gîlca.
According to specialists, the bacteria Vibrio cholera does not cause cholera, but can cause serious gastrointestinal disorders if the contaminated water reaches the mouth or the nose. Therefore, swimming is banned, primarily in the case of children. Among the symptoms of the infection are sickness, vomiting and diarrhea.
