Veterans say film about war of 1992 is provocation

The veterans from the Transnistrian region, who took part in the armed conflict of 1992, consider that the intention to invite residents of Corjova to Cocieri in Dubasari district, where there will be shown the film “Massacre of innocents or chronicle of a hidden war” by Victor Bucataru, is a provocation. They said that this is another attempt to make the situation in the region tense and to distort the historical reality, IPN reports.

According to the website of “Novyi Reghion” Agency, the war veterans living in the Transnistrian region believe that the intention to show this film is an unfriendly gesture on the part of Moldova. Veteran Alexandr Kolomytsev said that this film reminds them about issues that were forgotten during the over 20 years and this will not contribute to building confidence between the two banks of the Nistru.

The veterans reacted after a number of notices about the film appeared in Corjova village. The film is to be screened in Cocieri on April 26. The administration of Dubasari town called a meeting to examine this case and requested the law enforcement bodies of the region to have their eyes on Corjova.
