Veterans mount protest at PGO

The Nistru war veterans on November 18 protested in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) against the prosecution service’s inaction to the abusive and intimidation actions taken by the police against veterans in the course of this year, including the use of special means at the May and July protests, IPN reports.

According to veteran Constantin Covrig, as a result of the protests mounted in May and July and of the actions that happened in Varnița during the November 1 and 15 elections, a number of veterans suffered as a result of the illegal use of force (pushing, teargas) by police officers. The prosecution service is the body that monitories the activity of the police and this should examine the situation

Veteran Anatolie Macovei said the wrongdoings of the police during the election campaign and on the election day weren’t monitored by the responsible bodies. It seems to him that the police force is held hostage to Dodon’s regime and it also facilitated the electoral fraud by not reacting to the organized transportation of Transnistrian voters to polling stations situated in the right bank of the Nistru.

A representative of the PGO took the protesters’ complaint, promising that the institution will examine it and will come with a reaction.
