As of September 19, Vestmoldtransgaz will be responsible for the management and proper functioning of the natural gas infrastructure, while Moldovatransgaz will provide the necessary maintenance services. The National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) completed the procedure for designing Vestmoldtransgaz as gas transmission system operator nationwide, IPN reports.

The Agency’s decisions provide that if legislative amendments are made or legal, technical or economic circumstances that could not be predicted when the contracts were signed occur and require bringing the contract clauses in concordance, the Agency will request the sides, regardless of their will, to modify the contracts in accordance with the situation.

Also, the Administration Board of the NAER withdrew the license issued to Moldovatransgaz for natural gas transportation. Under the legislation, the nonobservance by the license holder of the legal requirements concerning the separation, independence or certification of the gas transmission system operator is a reason for withdrawing the license by a NAER decision.

This way, the NAER finished the legal process of designating Vestmoldtransgaz as the gas transmission system operator all over the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
